Home Remedy For Dry Skin

dry skinDry skin is a condition of the skin associated with scaling (the visible peeling of the outer skin layer), itching and skin cracking and common in body areas like the scalp, lower legs, arms, the knuckles, the sides of the abdomen and thighs.
It happens more in extreme weather conditions like harmattan or winter. However, some people naturally have dry skin, a medical condition known as Xeroderma. Of course the treatment is the application of skin emollients but what if you cannot afford to see a dermatologist or expensive skin care products?  Then you will have to consider home remedy for dry skin.

Home remedy usually has to do with natural products. Our research has found that Castor oil and Avocado are very good for dry skin.
Other oils like olive oil, safflower oil, almond oil, and Vitamin E are also good.

However you may have to do a little trial and error before you know which combination of naturals is god for your skin. The good thing about naturals is it enriches your skin while the cosmetic products may damage your skin in the case of testing one product or the other.

The mixture that worked for one of my girlfriends was green clay powder bought from a health shop and raw honey which she applied on her skin every morning for 15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

Aloe vera gel is also very effective for dry skin. It has all round healing properties. All you have to do is break off the leaf and apply the liquid to your skin or cream.

On the long run dry skin is a personal choice. You have to take healthy decisions and stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and having regular cold water baths.
